Since the late 1990s, Westchester Publishing Services has been providing the highest quality editorial services for publishers of books, journals, whitepapers, and more. We can work with virtually any publication for which the manuscript requires editorial work prior to being published or released. Westchester has the largest team of in-house editors of any non-publisher company – an employee editor count approaching 40 in number. The Westchester team has wide-ranging editorial expertise, which includes adult/young adult fiction and non-fiction books, academic and highly complex content such as microbiology and civil engineering, professional publications such as legal deskbooks and federal and state-level regulation reference books, as well as heavily illustrated books including cookbooks and hobby/how-to books.
How We Work
Each new book received by Westchester is assigned to one of our experienced production editors, with oversight by the production manager. The production editor handles all communications with the publisher contact, as well as with author(s), freelancers, and the composition group. This production editor is responsible for all stages of production and for maintaining the schedule.
In addition, the production editor is responsible for reviewing the copyedited manuscript, ascertaining that specifications are complete, working with the author, and selecting the proper copy editors, proofreaders, and indexers for the project. The production editor also works directly with the designer and with the art program.
